For those who have waited until the last minute to purchase that perfect Valentine's Day gift, the Franklin County Humane Society has come to the "rescue."

For $30, the Humane Society and one of their adoptable animals will visit your Valentine.

Your Valentine will receive a pooch smooch, a bag of kisses, a balloon and a card.

To secure a visit on Feb. 14, contact the Humane Society at plannedpethoodrockymount@yahoo.com or call (540) 483-3491.

Leann's Jewelry in Candles is also raising money for the Humane Society's Planned Pethood adoption center. For each candle sold from now until Feb. 14 at 11:45 p.m., $5 will be donated to the Humane Society as well as $3 for each pack of wax melts sold during the event.

To order candles or wax melts, visit www.jewelryincandles.com.

The Humane Society's mission is to find loving homes for pets in need. The society opened the Planned Pethood Clinic to reduce the numbers of animals brought to shelters each year. Planned Pethood has provided over 45,500 spay and neuter surgeries.

The clinic is open Tuesday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Appointments can be scheduled on Mondays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The adoption center provides a second chance for many animals and has provided care for more than 7,750 animals so far.

The adoption center is open Tuesday through Friday from 12 to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Adoptable pets can be viewed at www.plannedpethoodrockymount.com.
