PUBLIC NOTICE Pursuant to the Franklin County Code the Franklin Board of Zoning Appeals hereby gives notice of public hearings to be held on December 7 at 6:00PM in the Franklin County Board of Supervisors Meeting Room located at the Franklin County Government Center, 1255 Franklin Street, Rocky Mount, VA 24151, to which all interested parties are invited in reference to the following request: APPLICATION for VARIANCE Application of David and Mary Lindhjem, Applicants and Owners, requesting a variance to Section 25-226(a), Front Setback, of the Franklin County Code, on an approximate 0.317-acre property currently zoned R-1, Residential Suburban Subdivision District, located at 94 Lakecrest Drive in the Gills Creek District of Franklin County and further identified by Franklin County Real Estate Records as Tax Map/Parcel #0120112500. The R-1 zoning district requires a minimum front yard setback of thirty (30) feet from the property line. A variance of twenty-eight (28) feet is being requested in order for the applicant to build a 14' x 22' detached garage. The applicant's request is due to the topographic constraints of the property (Case # VAR-11-21-17096). All County residents are encouraged to continue participation in public meetings despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Franklin County is following CDC COVID-19 guidelines. We encourage participants to maintain 6-foot social distancing and wear masks if not vaccinated. If you are unable to attend the hearing, we will accept written comments to distribute to the Planning Commission members prior to the public hearing.
