Capt. Eugene “Red” McDaniel speaks at the renaming ceremony of the Davis & McDaniel Veterans Care Center in Roanoke. As a Navy pilot, McDaniel was shot down over Vietnam in 1967 and was held captive in the infamous “Hanoi Hilton” prison for six years.
