Richmond Times-Dispatch's year in photos for 2025

  • Jan 9, 2026
  • Jan 9, 2026 Updated Apr 30, 2026

As we begin this new year filled with hope and promises — that we’ll keep our new year's resolutions — we look back on 2025 and remember the ups, downs, and moments that made history.

As Richmond’s newly elected mayor, Danny Avula, stepped into his role, the city was immediately plagued by the first of two water crises. Kids sled down the hills of Forest Hill Park while city residents melted snow to flush their toilets, and water distribution centers arose around the city. The legislative session was delayed a week, and VCU men’s basketball took on Fordham in a resoundingly empty Siegel Center.
