Hostage situation in Rocky Mount ends peacefully, man charged

A hostage situation in Rocky Mount on Sunday was peacefully resolved after authorities say a man barricaded himself inside an apartment with his roommate's daughter.
The Rocky Mount Police Department and Franklin County Sheriff's Office responded to the incident at Candlewood Apartments and began negotiations, the Town of Rocky Mount said in a news release late Sunday afternoon.
During those negotiations, the town said, the juvenile was safely released from the residence and reunited with her mother.
Dehaven
Law enforcement negotiators continued communicating with the man, and he was taken into custody without incident, Rocky Mount's release said.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
33-year-old Mitcheal Dehaven, the town's release said, is charged with threats to bomb, burn or destroy, as well as felony destruction of property and felony abduction.
