Kobe Bryant, the NBA All-Star who won five championships with the Los Angeles Lakers, was born Aug. 23, 1978. He died in a helicopter crash in January 2020 along with his daughter Gianna and seven others.

The lawsuit, which was filed in September 2020, seeks undisclosed damages and claims civil rights violations, negligence, emotional distress and violation of privacy.
