COOK Therman R. Mr. Therman R. Cook, 83 of Circle Creek Road, Penhook, Va. departed this life on Friday morning, February 16, 2018 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born April 20, 1934 in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of the late Rosie B. Cook. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Jack, Dennis, Arthur, James Cook; and two sisters, Pauline Price and Edith Cook. Mr. Cook was a twenty-one-year veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam war. He was self-employed truck driver and member of the Greater Mt. Parrish Missionary Baptist Church, Penhook, Va. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Frances E. Cook of Ft. Washington, Md.; three sons, Therman Cook Jr. of Baltimore, Md., Kenneth and Jackie Brooks, both of Newport News, Va.; one daughter, Lequia Kidd of Richmond, Va.; three stepchildren, Derrick Adkins and Donna Keah (Daniel), all of Ft. Washington, Md. and Mark Adkins of Bowie, Md.; three brothers, David Cook (Ellen), Zebedee Cook (Alma) and Glenn Cook, all of Penhook, Va.; one sister, Sandra Preston (Eugene) of Boones Mill, Virginia; three grandchildren, Cameron Cook, Caitlyn Cook and Dominic Reeves; one great grandchild, Kamari Reeves and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A celebration of life for Mr. Cook will be conducted on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Greater Mt. Parrish Missionary Baptist Church by Dr. Raymond C. Ramsey Sr. Interment with Military Rites by Obie D. Minter Memorial Post VFW #10840 will follow in the Peaceful View Mountain Garden Cemetery, Penhook, Va. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday at the church. Miller Funeral Home, Gretna is in charge of the arrangements.
