South Alabama (10-2) is looking to cap a season of firsts with another one in the New Orleans Bowl on Wednesday night against Western Kentucky.
The Jaguars finished their regular season with the best record in school history and are now looking for the program’s first bowl win.
South Alabama is currently a 4.5-point favorite over the Hilltoppers (8-5) who are making their eighth bowl appearance and have won two of the last three postseason games.
Both offenses can move the football and score, but Western Kentucky is high-flying. The Hilltoppers are averaging 483.3 yards and 35.8 points per game.
South Alabama’s defense, however, is stingy, especially against the run. The Jaguars are giving up 19.4 points per game and boasts the nation’s fourth-best rushing defense, giving up 88.7 yards per contest. They also almost beat UCLA in September, falling to the then-No. 18 Bruins, 32-31.
FrontPageBets takes a look at the betting lines and odds for the New Orleans Bowl and picks the winner against the spread.
