College football top 25 picks: No. 1 Tennessee goes to No. 3 Georgia

The battle for supremacy in the SEC East, and the College Football Playoff, is at stake Saturday when No. 1 Tennessee visits No. 3 Georgia and Sanford Stadium.

The defending national champion Bulldogs (8-0) are averaging 41.75 points per game as they continue to thrive under coach Kirby Smart. 

The 8-0 Vols keep rising up the polls, taking the CFP top spot, averaging 49.4 points under their fiery leader Josh Heupel.

Tennessee outlook

Quarterback Hendon Hooker, the leader for the Heisman, has led his team to heights it hasn't seen since the Peyton Manning era. The Vols didn't look past Kentucky last time out, pounding the Wildcats, 44-6. Hooker is completing 71.6% of his passes with 21 touchdowns and one interception. 

Tennessee can hurt you on the ground with Jaylen Wright (478 yards, five TDs) or in the air with explosive Jalin Hyatt (907 yards, 14 scores).

It ranks 82nd in total defense, a stat that might cause some concern.

Georgia outlook

Bulldogs QB Stetson Bennett just keeps winning despite modest numbers. He has connected on 67.8% of his passes for nine touchdowns with three picks.

Playmakers include running back Daijun Edwards (440 yards, 7 TDs) and all-everything tight end Brock Bowers (547 yards, three trips to the end zone).

Georgia is relentless defensively, ranking fourth nationally.
