The top game this week features two of the top quarterbacks and teams in the league: Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills visiting Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
At this time in the 2022 regular season, we already have approached the point where health circumstances are going to make or break contenders.
The Miami Dolphins dropped back-to-back games following Tua Tagovailoa’s concussion, and his return is not imminent. The Seattle Seahawks will be without running back Rashaad Penny for the rest of the season. He has a broken fibula. The Green Bay Packers are hoping Aaron Rodgers’ thumb doesn’t become a weekly talking point. He didn’t practice Wednesday.
A number of other teams are dealing with injuries to vital personnel.
With key players sidelined comes the opportunity for others -- Cooper Rush, anyone -- to stand tall.
FrontPageBets looks at three of the best bets we found for Week 6.
Arizona Cardinals vs. Seattle Seahawks
The pick: Seahawks money line (+120 DraftKings, +122 FanDuel, +125 BetMGM)
The Seahawks appear to be better off without Russell Wilson.
Geno Smith is turning heads, posting the NFL’s highest completion percentage (75.2) among quarterbacks with at least 100 pass attempts to go along with 10 total touchdowns (nine passing, one rushing) against just one interception.
With Smith under center, Seattle is averaging the seventh-most points per game (25.4), although its defense is on pace to be historically dreadful.
Those defensive setbacks should offset with the Cardinals’ inability to score early in games. Arizona has yet to put up points in the first quarter this season, so expect it to get in an early hole that it won’t be able to get out of against Smith and a high-octane Seahawks offense that racks up nearly 370 yards per contest.
The pick: Under 42 points (-110 DraftKings, -110 BetMGM, -110 Caesars)
Surely any offense that features Jonathan Taylor, Michael Pittman Jr. and Matt Ryan is bound to be a powerhouse, right?
Guess again.
The Colts are the lowest-scoring offense in the league, averaging just 13.8 points per game. It’s not like they haven’t had the ball in their hands. They’ve maintained possession for an average of 30:29 across their first five games. So, Indianapolis has been chewing a fair amount of clock, but that hasn’t been translating to points -- at all.
Taylor might not even play for a second consecutive week due to an ankle injury, and the Jaguars’ offense likely doesn’t have what it takes to pick up the slack in order for the over to hit.
Both defensive units are also allowing less than 19 points per game, so don’t expect these two offenses that are mediocre at best to put together a high-scoring affair.
The pick: Najee Harris over 43.5 rushing yards (-115, DraftKings, -117 Caesars)
We understand that it hasn’t been the most glorious start to the season for Harris, but to put his rushing total under 45 yards is just downright disrespectful.
Aside from last week’s 20-yard dud, Harris went for at least 45 yards on the ground in three of his previous four games. He was a top-10 back last season and still has the talent to reach that level again this year once he hits his stride.
Tampa Bay allows opposing rushers to go for 115.6 yards on average, so it’s not like its defense has smothered the run game, which bodes well for Harris and Pittsburgh’s offensive line.
With rookie Kenny Pickett still trying to find his footing at quarterback, expect the Steelers to lean on the run against the Buccaneers, creating the perfect storm for a massive bounce-back game from Harris.
