FrontPageBets looks at best bets for Raiders vs. Chiefs on Monday Night Football

The Kansas City Chiefs, while not perfect, have played up to the standard that football fans have come to expect of them.

Patrick Mahomes is throwing incredible touchdown passes, the defense isn’t costing them games like it occasionally would in years past and the AFC West -- once predicted to be the toughest in football -- is currently in the palms of their hands.

The Las Vegas Raiders will take aim at the Chiefs’ throne on Monday Night Football this week at Arrowhead Stadium.

Chiefs -7 (-110)

The Chiefs (3-1) have owned the Raiders in recent years, even predating the Mahomes era. Kansas City is 13-2 in the past 15 meetings with the Raiders.

Las Vegas (1-3) finally got in the win column in Week 4 by taking down the disappointing Denver Broncos 32-23. Improvements in Las Vegas and Denver were supposed to make the AFC West daunting, unpredictable and a lot of fun. But for now, it’s shaping up to be a two-horse race.

The Raiders’ defense has been serviceable if not spectacular this year, allowing 24, 29, 24 and 23 points in their four games. But in the past they’ve rarely been able to contain Mahomes, who is even more powerful when the Chiefs are balancing him with a strong rushing attack -- as they did last week with 189 yards on the ground.

The bonus for the Chiefs is that they finally get to return home. They played just one of their first four games at Arrowhead, the Thursday night win over the Chargers back in Week 2. It’s up there with Seattle as one of the loudest environments in the NFL.

The Chiefs are 6-2 against the spread in their last eight home games and 7-1-1 against the spread in their last nine Monday games.

 Over 51.5 points (-110)

Are you tired of ugly, incompetent football in prime-time NFL games? Need to erase those recent 12-9 and 11-10 slobberknockers (both of them involving Denver) from your memory?

The Chiefs just dropped 41 points on a top-10 Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense, and on top of that, Mahomes has been more productive against the Raiders than any other opponent in his career thus far. In eight career meetings, he’s averaged 318.3 yards per game and thrown 22 touchdowns against just three interceptions.

But we’re not saying it will be some one-sided beatdown. Though it hasn’t translated into many wins yet, this Raiders offense has promise, and Derek Carr is plenty familiar with Kansas City. Sure, he’s 3-13 against the Chiefs all-time, but he’s thrown for more passing yards (3,879) against them than any other opponent, along with 24 touchdowns.

The Chiefs have allowed the sixth-most passing yards per game in the NFL so far, and Carr and Co. are likely to be playing from behind for much of the game and airing it out.

It’s a recipe for a high-scoring game, just like the past five meetings between these foes were (final scores: 48-9, 41-14, 35-31, 40-32, 40-9).

Over 7.5 receptions for Davante Adams (+120)

Hunter Renfrow missed the past two games with a concussion, but after fully practicing all week, he’s expected to return Monday.

That bodes well not only for himself but for Raiders teammate Adams. Renfrow was Las Vegas’ top wide receiver for the past few years, but adding Adams across the field from him unlocks so much potential. In his team debut Week 1, Adams caught 10 passes (on 17 targets!) for 141 yards and a touchdown.

He hasn’t had a game quite like that since, though he hauled in nine receptions for 101 yards against Denver last week. Adams is one of the game’s premier wideouts regardless, but having Renfrow on the field giving opposing secondaries something else to think about only helps.

As we mentioned, Kansas City remains vulnerable in the passing game. Three different rookie cornerbacks -- Jaylen Watson, Bryan Cook and Joshua Williams -- have taken snaps on defense. Nickel corner L’Jarius Sneed (ankle) is expected to play but could be gimpy.
