While still a long shot to win Super Bowl LVIII, the Houston Texans aren’t at the bottom of the odds boards.
Not anymore.
After a successful NFL Draft that saw the AFC's worst team snag two top-3 picks, including Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud with the second overall pick and Alabama edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. with the third overall pick.
Houston had eyes on Stroud all along, but traded up with the Arizona Cardinals for the third pick and took perhaps the best defensive player in the entire draft.
How much will those two players, plus seven other picks throughout the three-day draft, including two offensive linemen, two wide receivers and three other defensive players, help a team that finished 3-13-1, just a half a game better than the Chicago Bears for the worst record in the NFL?
Time will tell.
But if futures odds are any indication, many believe the Texans aren’t going to be as bad this coming season.
Prior to the draft, Houston was +18000 (or 180-1) odds to win Super Bowl LVIII, according to FanDuel. That was tied with the Cardinals at the bottom of the board. The day after the draft, the Texans improved to +11000 (110-1) to win the Super Bowl, moving them above Arizona, which stated at +18000.
Houston’s jump was the most significant of any team post-draft, as FrontPageBets takes a look at the odds for each NFL team to win it all next season now that the 2023 draft is complete.
