Behind the strength of 15 3-pointers, the Dallas Mavericks built a 19-point first-half lead over the Golden State Warriors on Friday night in Game 2 of the NBA Western Conference Finals in San Francisco.
But games in the Association are 48 minutes and Golden State rallied to collect a 126-117 win and a commanding 2-0 lead in the series.
Game 3 is Sunday night in Dallas.
The Warriors got a huge lift from guard Kevon Looney, who clamped down defensively on Dallas star Luka Doncic over the last 24 minutes. Looney scored 21 points and pulled down 12 rebounds, seven on the defensive glass. Steph Curry led the way for Golden State with 32 points and eight boards. Andrew Wiggins netted 16 points and Klay Thompson popped in 15.
The Mavericks let a golden opportunity slip away and saw a 42-point, eight-rebound effort from Doncic go for naught. Jalen Brunson had 32 points and seven boards in the loss.
