The nurse accused of abusing a baby at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital will receive a mental health evaluation, after a prosecutor said there is evidence the nurse has a problem with substance abuse and mental health disorders.
In 2023 and 2024, Henrico Doctors’ Hospital discovered babies in its neonatal intensive care unit had suffered unexplained fractures. Prosecutors say the nature of the fractures suggests the babies were victims of abuse.
