This map shows Charles City County’s location, southeast of Richmond. The proposed data center would be in the northwest section of the county.
On Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2025, the Jefferson Davis statue was packed up at The Valentine to be transported to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles for an upcoming exhibit.
Pulled down by protestors on June 10, 2020, sprayed with pink paint and layered with graffiti, it has become a symbol in Richmond’s reckoning with its past.
The artifacts will be part of an exhibit called MONUMENTS, which will open in October and will include other monument artifacts from Montgomery, Alabama; New Orleans; Baltimore; Pittsburgh; and Boston.
“You can keep your monuments,” said Del. Mike Jones, D-Richmond, who was Richmond’s 9th District City Councilman from 2017 until 2024. “S--- didn’t change when they came down.”
